I took off the past few days from writing to focus on finishing up a novel for an office book club. Unfortunately, I began far too late and have had to force myself to sit down and devote time to shaving off the pages lately. While I’m not quite finished, I can certainly recommend that you read it. The plot focuses on a young man growing up in South Africa during World War Two. After spending a majority of his youth bullied as a result of his perceived differences, Peekay finds solace in various activities and devotes himself fully to them. Throughout his adventures, these activities help him on a beautifully written path of self discovery which teaches him a thing or two about the power that one person has to overcome adversity.
If any of you are looking for your next good book, look no further. Bryce Courtenay has written a masterpiece worth your time. I’m off to finish up and think of what the hell I’m going to add to this book club.
