“Close Up” by Martin Schoeller

Martin Schoeller is one of the most prolific photographers working today. His style is marked by extreme close up portraits, shot using fluorescent lights in place of strobes with no retouching. His work has been featured on the cover of Esquire, GQ and in countless other publications and campaigns. I had the chance to work with Martin on a job for Lexus and found him to be a jovial and gracious man, a rarity in this business.

His most recent book “Close Up” won’t come cheap. Even used copies for sale on sites like Amazon will run almost $900, compared to $1600 for a new copy. They are limited edition, heirloom quality pieces produced in an extremely limited run.
