Scott turned me on to TED Talks when they featured chef and health guru Jamie Oliver awhile back. The concept is exciting, but as engaged as we can be on the Internet, there is something special about interacting with like minded individuals in person. Social networking before it went online, a forum with an actual street address. For those of us in California that are unable to attend TED Talks, consider attended a local grassroots version, Mindshare Los Angeles.
Mindshare is a project re-imagining what it is to be a member of a community in 2010. Founder by former TED volunteers Doug Campbell and Adam Mefford in 2005, Mindshare serves as a 21 and over mixer for young professionals who share an excitement for new ideas.
Per their website (http://www.mindshare.la):
“Typically people who like the combination of drinking and big ideas become devout followers of… ‘Enlightened Debauchery!'”
